    Abstract

In this paper, I explore how we can look at North Korean posters and how we can obtain a new insight into the meaning of North Korean posters in a contemporary world. North Korean posters, which are an example of ‘politicized design’ have seldom changed their design since the early 20th century. After the invention of other communication mediums such as radio and TV, the role of posters is decreasing in general. However, North Korean Posters are still one of the primary propaganda medium in North Korea and also serve as visual images which citizens see every day in their society. This research shows how North Korean Posters reproduce, circulate, and sells in physical and digital space. I hope this research can shed light on the new cognition of North Korean visual images in today’s society.
